Continuing our journey at last, we go across the world again and finally deal with a certain blue coatrack for the last time.

We're nearing the end now, so have a word cloud of the previous posts, minus the non-playthrough ones (i.e. the fanfic isn't counted)

I need to stop saying just, but I just... it's just... so useful!

I spent entirely too much time talking about Seymour, it seems.

But I like how Ixion is there.

Kimahri gets about the same attention as NPCs. Probably even less.

Pfftt, I'm now going to imagine a lot of people DO realize Yuna is half Al Bhed, but never say anything to avoid Wakka meltdowns.

I'm not sure if "killed by Seymour" is a good way for anyone to die...

I love how Seymour said he killed ALL of them and Kimahri was now last Ronso, yet there's Ronso here and even still on Mt. Gagazet.

Bickson, not taunting us and instead talking sense.

Even if I still wonder why I'm allowed to play blitzball when there's a WANTED: DEAD OR DEADER poster out for us.

It's okay, no one ever changes their clothes nor seems to have any reaction to different weather conditions at all.

Even two whole years later, Yuna and Rikku are the only ones who bother to ever change their clothes!

Seriously speaking, I do like how they did try to get different regions varying styles, as the NPC outfits for Besaid and Kilka are appropriate for a tropical island while Bevelle NPCs have a lot more clothes on, I'm guessing because it neighbors the ice regions.

These people run up to me and are way too happy to see us. I've never seen anyone ever be this thrilled! And we're wanted fugitives!

... but then I run into someone who never seems happy to see us.

And just who I always want to see! ... shit, I said just again.

... and he ran away when he saw us for some reason.

You say that like it's some exotic place like Tidus' Zanarkand.

Unless he is from a completely different empire in the clouds we never see, like the underwater hypello cities we never even get a glimpse of.

And now he ran up and started flexing for no reason.

I'm starting to think he really is not from this world.

She is showing a shocking amount of humility here.

I've been saying from the start I wanted more detail on her, and there are several conclusions you can make from this, but... headcanon, not quite the same.

Her attitude here is completely flipped from the beginning, where she was cursing us saying Yuna had no chance. Now I really wish we could ask just why exactly she was so hostile. Hidden insecurity? Jealousy? Misdirected frustration and fear of the whole summoner thing?

Hahahahaha

the text isn't important

THE MONK IN THE BACKGROUND THOUGH

That's one of the animations they gave the Aurochs during their fail practice at the very beginning of the game. Why the farplane a random monk is now doing it, I don't know, but I imagine one of the animators was having fun.

Chocobos like Yevonite temples?!

That's not why I'm here at all. And all I did to achieve this title is walk up and talk to a chocobo. And who is even saying this?

I'm posting this here because of reasons that will be clear later. This statement is... curious.

Weren't you paying attention? Chocobos are the only company she needs! I think we walked into a crazy cabin-temple hermit with way too many chocobos.

So about that earlier statement... uh... If this was lost after an earlier battle with Sin... Why is there a statue of Braska?! Even Besaid didn't get a statue of him until near the start of the game, presumably because of a combination of location and how he would be considered more controversial in Bevelle itself*, where the statues seem to originate from.

*I'm not sure of this, but since he was originally with the Bevelle temple even before becoming a summoner, it was likely well known around the temple itself - at least in Bevelle - that he was thrown out for marrying and Al Bhed.

Speaking of

Rin retells the story of how Braska married and Al Bhed and Cid wouldn't talk to Yuna's mother/his sister because he was furious because "YEVONITE!!1"

Tidus said in disdain, as if he wasn't also a heathen in love with a yevonite who he told should just go off to Zanarkand with him.

And the reward for most random NPC goes to...

Now I want to know what is down there even more, damn it.

Why are there so many sole NPCs preventing me from going places? I could easily blow them all away, a single person shouldn't be able to stop us!

Auron is always a lot more temperamental in the flashbacks.

But I like these flashbacks too much, this trio is too amusing.

This I find curious though. This is the beginning of his journey, so how is he a "fallen summoner"? Unless it just means fallen out of favor in general.

Wow, Tidus is probably wincing at how much that mirrors his reactions.

It's okay, blame the writers for not showing more diverse guado sooner.

Forced marriages! Always a boon to your political ratings!

That's fairly simple: he was a creeper stalker who seems to have some kind of misplaced crush on anyone with Yuna in their name.

Still better than me. The first time I crossed it, I successfully dodged... 0 times!

Very.

I never use Kimahri, yet his was the first weapon I upgraded once because Ixion.

Auron's was the first I fully upgraded, though.

This is short and drives me a bit nuts since it seems like they were once genuine friends, and Kinoc became suddenly power hungry and evil because... mwhahaha lol? Power corrupts? It is interesting, but this is another one of those scenes that only makes me more curious about details.

Alternative AU idea: What if Auron HAD taken that promotion? Would he have turned out the same?

Wait wait wait. Is he... wearing a... red ball of yarn? Just hanging from his robe like it's glued on?!

I now so want to see Jyscal vs. a room full of cats.

I'm guessing a housewife to Wakka wasn't what you wanted, either. I will forever weep over that for you.

Hey, I don't care how much AP you give, that's just cruel.

I grinded a shitton because far too much is locked behind Dark Valefor.

- A Jecht sphere for Auron's last overdrive.
- The Besaid Destruction sphere that I accidentally missed at the beginning due to forgetting when the dungeon ended.
... and because of ^ that point
- Anima, which needs all the destruction spheres.
- The Magus Sisters, which require Anima
- Yuna's celestial weapon, which requires the previous two.

In the end, Auron was hitting above 10000 with every hit and Yuna's aeons can do 99999 if they're limit broken. I still couldn't beat Dark Valefor.

I gave up and cheesed it by Zanmato.

Yeah, because getting back here was so easy.

And hasn't everyone been lately?

Just what I've always wanted! Do I want to know the details about this... unique item? I don't think giving it to Tidus will make it any cleaner.

At least he's moving forward, which....

I'm not even going to ask why the fayth behind Ixion is in a corner hat.

Now that I've gotten the two destruction spheres I missed, I can finally get Anima. Who I will almost never use.

But completionism kills.

I honestly don't know. I hate how Seymour often shows up and throws the plot off into insanity land with him, but I do love making fun of him and he was such a MVP in the Sims.

Uhh, I think you may want to look inward a little, there.

Yes, like that.

I name her "Sparkles," go get the Magus Sisters, and thenturn around to fight them to get Yuna's weapon

I'm so ridiculously OP that Ixion 99999'ed all of them

"I am aiming to be the only undead person walking Spira!"

I do choose to. In case you haven't noticed, I love these aeon battles... They're so Pokemon-esque and Pokemon was my first video game and I still love it, but when I'm so overpowered above her, they're no longer fun.

With that, we go off to finally beat Sin.

I... don't even want to think too much about this. And I love how no one suggests that maybe it's like a living organism and he's not really literally "inside" so much as inside in spirit.

They're very lucky I'm not right.

I do love the hymn of the fayth idea though

Even if it's not as fun as getting him drunk like it goes in the story they're basing that on (Considering who is Sin now, I'm sure getting him drunk would work, too)

I also like how every time Rin tries to charge us when we're fighting for the world, Tidus calls him out on it.

Pffft, I'm feeling second-hand embarrassment, as that's the sphere with all her good-byes where she pretty much says she loves Tidus.

Tidus tosses it off the airship

I can't help but wonder what would happen if it survives in-tact and someone finds it later. Very unfortunate for Yuna.

Sin is having none of it, though

What the hell is it doing

I'm doomed, aren't I

Send help

HOW DARE YOU MAKE A CUTSCENE TO POWER UP A RIDICULOUS MOVE ONLY TO HAVE IT ACT LIKE WE JUST GOT HIT WITH A REALLY STRONG GUST OF WIND

Seriously, all that for... nothing? It didn't even hit us?

We fight some easy battles against his arms, but then the main gun breaks.

Despite how Sin hasn't been doing much, retreating for now is recommended when

Everything is still always blitzball. Never forget blitzball.

Lmao, this looks even sillier as a still screenshot. Belt dresses are so great for jumping off airships.

Another easy battle. Sin, you are weak. And why do you have these obvious weak spots?

Right on Bevelle, the most populated city in the world. Good going, we probably should've planned that better.

I was going to say, if Sin has such obvious weak points, he should've been beaten plenty of times by now, and not just by summoners.

So we confirm again that we're going inside, despite not knowing what could be there!

Yuna is still pondering what Bahamut's fayth told her, and comes to the correct conclusions

Tidus explains that they said they were tired, she quotes what they said about their dreaming and...

She's figured it out, after all.

But right then Sin expresses his disapproval of all even quasi-romantic moments by

...

Standing like a rooster on top of a barn?

I

uh

How is that building not collapsing, unless it's not really putting it's weight on it / flying above it but still, this looks more amusing than threatening

You know shit is serious when we start posing dramatically instead of HAHAHAHAHAHAing

... awkward

I am now free to travel wherever I want, despite how this seems like a crucial point where I really shouldn't be running off to go race chocobos or play blitzball

I do wonder about Bevelle though-- Sin is just casually SITTING on it. Surely Bevelle must be terrified

... or not.

Even these two just repeat what they said earlier. Sin possibly going to kill us all after part of the city got destroyed by him crashing into it? Eh, not a pressing concern.

I've gone back to talk to people when I shouldn't have before, and the game has generally been great at changing their dialog to fit the circumstance (i.e. Cid telling me to stop messing around and go kill that dragon), but this... XD

But I decide to stop messing around again and go kill that giant flying bug whale

That for some reason now has a city on it

Sin, you are weak. I shouldn't be able to overkill Sin so quickly.

We go inside, because everyone wants to be eaten by a giant flying whale

DEAR YEVON IT'S WORSE THAN I EVER IMAGINED

HD CINEMATIC CLOSE-UP OF SEYMOUR'S EYES

WE HAVE TRULY ENTERED A PLACE BEYOND THE FARPLANE, BEYOND HOPE, AND DARKER THAN ANYTHING YOU CAN CONCEIVE OF.

He says, completely left behind by even Kimhari. No one is even trying to pretend anymore that most of the story has been about Yuna instead of Tidus.

Who can now Threaten enemies like a boss.

This is where I really wish every character had unique phrases for these moves, as I'd really like to see this.

And as if a close-up of his eye wasn't foreshadowing enough

I was so done with you after the first time we fought.

I'm not even going to bother asking why or how this time. There's never any answers or logic with you

Nice try, Tidus, but that doesn't make sense either when no one else seems to have been absorbed by sin and-- oh shit, I said I wouldn't, yet NOW IT STARTED ANYWAY

Hmm.

He has less than 99999 HP

I could one hit kill him (or rather, two-hit since Auron went first thanks to his weapon's skill)

Alternatively, I could give myself a challenge and try to use Wakka and Kimahri. Wakka is only half-way through his own Sphere Grid and Kimahri uh... he knows fire, I think?

Nah, Seymour's never worth it.

So irrelevant you get two-hit-killed it is!

I also want to point out that they somehow managed to make this battle theme sound even more like ti should be a dance track than in the original

Wrong again, in the future they overcome it with the power of song!

... that greatly increased MY sorrow, though.

And with that, we're off to the end. Damn Seymour has rickrolled way too many of these posts.

*cracking up at this whole thing*

I haven't noticed the 'just' abuse personally but then again I tend to abuse 'actually' far too often so I'm tempted to pinch your idea and do a word cloud for DL.

I now so want to see Jyscal vs. a room full of cats.

SE WHY DID YOU NOT MAKE THIS WHEN YOU HAD THE OPPORTUNITY. WHY. I WOULD'VE TAKEN THIS OVER TIDUS BOTOX ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.

And with that, we're off to the end. Damn Seymour has rickrolled way too many of these posts.

I would be much more forgiving of a random Seymour appearance if he showed up singing "Never Gonna Give You Up". When you think about it, it is the perfect song for him. (I'm just going to headcanon that was a cut scene from X-2 where Yuna visits the Farplane and Seymour shows up dressed like Rick Astley.)

I would say this was the first FF where Nojima's nuttiness started to make itself apparent in terms of forgetting to bother with character development, having villains behaving like whack-a-moles and unintentionally goofy SRS moments but in order to do that VIII would have to not exist. X manages to have enough good stuff in it though that you can put up with the nonsense to a certain degree but I think after X he really was knocking out more misses than hits. That or given more freedom which resulted in more madness. I definitely think he was under a much tighter rein in VII, was allowed to go bonkers in VIII and presumably reined in a bit more for X which might explain why the writing ranges so much between those 3 games. It also occurs to me that Seymour was the first DL datable given the whole abusive undead creeper thing with a supposedly sympathetic yet poorly explained backstory. Nojima should write otome if he doesn't already.

Lolz, that one screenshot with the random monk floating in the background cracked me up. I have no idea why! XD

~The jumping off the ship thing looks so silly as a screenshot, I forgot how funny it looks in-motion too. O_O;

WE HAVE TRULY ENTERED A PLACE BEYOND THE FARPLANE, BEYOND HOPE, AND DARKER THAN ANYTHING YOU CAN CONCEIVE OF.
~LOLZ, HOW COULD THEY DO THEY THAT? DID THEY EVEN THINK OF THE CHILDREN? HOW MANY SEYMOUR-INDUCED NIGHTMARES DID THAT CREATE? O_O

~I also just love how random some of the NPCs are and where they are located. They should do a "Where's Waldo?" mini-game in a FF. XD
