Really Kimahri you could at least turn the other way while sparkle psuedosex is going on.
I do like how Yuna kisses him back at least, as I have seen way too many anime/video games/movies/shows where the female just passively stands there and seemingly does nothing while the guy kisses her. Seems to be the worst in anime.
It's just as bad in BL. 95% of the time it's the seme who initiates the kiss unless the uke is a power bottom. There are power ukes who insist that the seme kiss them rather than just kiss the seme but I wouldn't consider that passive as they're initiating the action/requesting it. BLs in the 90s had a surprisingly decent amount of power ukes or ukes who were much more keen on touching than their semes but then BL got very fixated on making ukes as passive as possible around the end of the 90s and they're now just as bad as otome heroines. Come to think of it I remember there being a few girls in anime who would kiss the boys or set things up to provoke the boys into kissing them in the early 90s.... what a shame this is no longer the case.
Poor Lulu... I liked that moment where she faces the unsent version of Lady Whatsherface (really helps that they have such a gorgeous musical track playing) but yeah, it feels rather flat overall as there's little development over it and it just feels as though it's there for a boss and to try and pretend Lulu has a backstory. But because not much light is shed on it it doesn't sink in much. It'sa pity as it could've been used to help give detail as to how damn hard a pilgrimage is meant to be (given that the party seems to have a very easy time until the incident with the coat rack) and that there was a significant chance that Yuna wouldn't succeed, plus it would've given Lulu extra depth in that here she was having failed as a guardian twice already and now she had to try and get it right for the girl who she effectively thought of as her sister.
I can't take Yojimbo seriously because I always think of him as "Yo, Jimbo!" though I had to use him to save my hide when I walked into a dead end with one of those dark aeon summoners by mistake with no possible escape other than beating it. I wept a lot of blood tears over those dark aeons. A lot of blood tears. Despite cheating. Because cheating hurt just as much.
Seymour's Ronso genocide was one of the lowest points in X for me. Largely because Seymour just claimed he'd committed a massacre which we never saw and it turned out there was ample proof both in this game and the next one that he'd failed at it. Also how could someone as useless as Seymour kill several dozen Ronso when a group of 7 not only killed him but were unable to pass said Ronso until allowed to do so. ALSO THE GUY FELL OFF A CLIFF LIKE WIL-E-COYOTE. ARE WE REALLY EXPECTED TO TAKE AN ANTAGONIST WHO CHASES THE PARTY ONLY TO BE DEFEATED EASILY EVERYTIME AND DISPATCHED OF IN THE MOST EMBARRASSING WAY SERIOUSLY? (And sadly SE didn't learn their lesson as they decided to apply the rule of Seymour to Sephiroth because surely everyone loves a crazy stalker who just won't die even though he's already dead~!)
